Dental and Eye Care (Optometry)
GPs are not trained or equipped to manage dental problems, so if you have symptoms such as toothache, swelling, or bleeding in the mouth, please contact your dentist directly.
If you do not have a regular dentist, you can access urgent dental advice and services via NHS 111.
For eye-related symptoms—such as pain, changes in vision, redness, discharge, or watering—please contact your optometrist (optician) in the first instance. Many optometrists can assess and manage eye conditions without the need to see a GP.
Please note: You may be directed to these services if they are the most appropriate for your care.
