Macmillan nurses are specialists in cancer care. They advise on the best ways to manage pain and other symptoms; they offer expert care on treatment options and they give psychological support to people living with cancer. Their support and advice is available from the moment someone is diagnosed, throughout the course of their illness. Macmillan nurses work as part of a team of health care professionals, caring for patients, co-ordinating care and providing continuity between hospital and the community. Requests for a Macmillan nurse can be made through your GP, district nurses, hospital consultant and hospital staff.
